BE HIV FREE 2 - BE AWARE, TAKE CARE
I think I mentioned it in an earlier Journal, but it is now offically finished! Some background info:
In my graduationyear (2 years ago) I, with two fellow animators, made a 9 minute educational animation explaining what HIV/Aids is and how to make sure you won't get infected. The main characters are Bobo and his friend Nadinya that talk about HIV/Aids and explain with their magic window what happens in your body. Target audience was just about everybody in Africa , but mainly kids. 1000 copies on CD where send to Africa.
It was very succesfull and now, almost 2 years later, part 2 is finished. This time it's aimed at kids that already have HIV/Aids and tells them about how their medication works and how important it is. And again Bobo and Nadinya take the lead with a new friend, Temba.
From concept to final animation, everything was done by me and fellow animator Joost Lieuwma. Music by Bastiaan Zwager, sounddesign by Bento Kassies.
2D animation done in Anime Studio Pro (formerly known as Moho), 3D in Lightwave.

I'm not allowed to show the entire animation, so I made a 1+ minute compilation of interesting animation sequences. I've added it to my DA gallery [link]
or you can view it at my website [link]

The entire project was funded by Richard Branson of Virgin UK and printed in 10.000 copies. Example of the final printed CD:

Very rewarding projects to be working on, as I hope you will understand.

I'm waiting on some renders, good time to write a new journal Entry.

I'm wrapping up some long running projects, one was doing Illustrator/flash animations for an e-learning game produced by MAD Multimedia. For all Dutch people, gamer.nl has an article about it online [link] I did the guy in the white T-shirt (and more artwork that's not in the article).
The other is a 7.something minute 2D/3D animation for children in Africa that have HIV/Aids and explains to them how their medication works an why they need to take it. Richard Branson/Virgin UK sponsored the 6 months production which is a pretty sweet deal. Although production is done it won't launch till halfway April. I'll share some more info then.

I got invited to enter AniBoom's EyeDoll competition [link] I don't know yet if I will join in but I thought I shoud share it with everybody else. Sounds pretty cool although the songs they have online to choose from are really lame...

On a side-note; eventhough I have a Nintendo Wii I play a lot of GameCube games. Now is the right time to buy them cheap if you now where to look. Been playing Resident Evil 4 for a while now and I just love it. Do wonder how Leon keeps his hair so tidy that it's always covering his right eye...

That's it for now, don't know what to write anymore.
I'm gonna hit the sack. Later!

I think I understand the basics of DA now. Hooray for that.
I enjoy looking at other DA'ers work, gives me a lot of inspiration...
The thing I'm really amazed about is the deviations counter on the DA homepage, and the speed at which deviations are added... Not all additions are worthwhile but still, its amazing.

I'm quite busy with my work as a freelance animator but it looks like I might have some free time the coming weeks! Just have to get through this week...
I hope to invest some of that free time into personal projects (and gaming!).

So I'm new to this whole DeviantArt thing. I visited the DA pages of some people I liked for a while now and decided to sign up. Give me some time to understand all the DA options and how it works...
I want to put different and more stuff here then on my 'bussiness' website, to create a better outlet for everything I do.
